Kung Fu Dunk

15th April

I want to watch this movie in the cinema, but in the end, I didn’t make it. I bought the dvd recently and watched it few days back.

Kung Fu Dunk is full of special effect, just like Shaolin Soccer, but it’s basketball related. Jay Chou is the student from the Kung Fu School. He got kicked out from the school and met Eric Tsang accidentally. Eric Tsang became his manager and made him to be a basketball player. He became famous since he used his Kung Fu during the basketball match. However, He only has the action and no tactic. He started to get trained and has improved himself. Want to know what is happening next, then you must watch this movie.

For those who missed the movie in cinema like me, go get the dvd and watch it. It’s entertaining and touching on some of the part. Nice movie and it’s recommended!

Rule Number One

26th March

I saw the Rule Number One preview when I watched Ah Long Pte Ltd. It’s a horror movie and it looks good. However, I don’t like Ekin Cheng.

This kind of movie must go to watch it in the cinema. The special effect will definitely scare you out. There are another 2 horror movie showing in the cinema: The Eye and Shutter. Both movies are origin from Hong Kong and Thai. Maybe I will watch it from the DVD since I have watched the original version.

Ah Long Pte Ltd

19th March

I went to watch AH Long Pte Ltd finally. It’s a Jack Neo’s film and for sure it will be a comedy.

Ah Long Pte Ltd combined both Singapore and Malaysia actor and actress. The story is about the loan shark or we so called Ah Long in Hokkien. Although some of the parts are not really logic, I enjoyed the movie very much. It’s so funny. If you are not in a good mood, this movie for sure will make you happy.

Mark Lee was good in this movie. He is the main character and his acting is great! Below is the synopsis, getting from the official movie site.

SYNOPSIS

Ah Long Pte Ltd 《老师嫁老大》 is a light-hearted black comedy about the triad world and the money-lending business. Instead of treating the subject of Ah Longs (money-lenders) seriously, the movie takes on a humorous and sarcastic treatment. It depicts how a young lady tries to restructure her money-lending triad into a professional and ‘loving’ triad that stands against the use of violence after she takes over from her triad leader who has retired. Her various restructuring plans (which are no doubt very creative) bring about hilarious results.

Chen Jun (played by Richard Low) is the leader of Shao He Triad. The story opens with him deciding to “retire” from the triad business. Prior to his retirement, he elects Wang Li Hua (played by Fann Wong), a young but tough girl, as his successor.

Li Hua believes that changes need to be made to the current money lending system . Although Li Hua prioritizes the triad’s success, she is very much against the idea of using violent means to collect debts. Therefore, with the help of some professional consultants, Li Hua and several of her subordinates (played by KK and Daniel Tan) start adopting a series of creative tactics to attract money lenders and practice hilarious methods to pressure the money-lenders to repay in a non-violent way. However, Li Hua’s plan of “restructuring” her triad meets with obstacles and opposition from the majority of the conservative elders in both her own triad and rival triad.

At the brighter end of the world, Mr. Fang (played by Mark Lee) is a kind-hearted dance instructor who is slightly sissy in character. Fate has it that Mr. Fang runs into Li Hua on numerous occasions by chance. Since Li Hua’s mother has been pressuring her to get married, Li Hua decides to force Mr. Fang to marry her. Surprisingly, Mr. Fang agrees to it, wanting to prove his masculinity. Though finding it hard to accept the fact that Li Hua is a triad head, Mr. Fang approves of her effort to minimize the use of violence. Subsequently, he offers to help Li Hua out by introducing creative ways to reduce violent methods of debt collection.

If you are a horror movie fan, don’t miss this movie. However, I’m not really like the ending.

Movie that I want to watch

12th March

There are 2 movies that I want to watch. One will be the Ah Long Pte Ltd and another one will be the Spiderwick Chronicle.

Ah Long Pte Ltd is the movie from Singapore, directed by Jack Neo, starring Fann Wong and Mark Lee, together with actors from Malaysia KK and Jack Lim. It’s a comedy. If you watched the trailer, I’m sure you will want to watch it. It’s funny. It will be another great movie from Jack Neo after Just Follow Law. Singapore showed this movie during the CNY. Here only starts to show on 12 March.

I didn’t pay attention on Spiderwick Chronicle at the first place. My friend told me it’s not bad. I watched the TV this afternnon and on one of the programme, it showed us the preview. It seems to be nice movie, like Jumanji. Maybe I will try to go watch it.

Have you watched the above movie? Nice?

Vantage Point

9th March

In this month itself, I have already watched 2 movies in the cinema, Vantage Point and The Mist. I didn’t plan to watch Vantage Point in the first place. Remember I went to RedBox the other day? After RedBox, my friend suggested to watch this movie. Since there are few friends said this is a nice movie, so we decided to watch it.

I have no idea what is the story about Vantage Point even when I step into the cinema. The movie starts with the assassination of the US president. After that, the film roll back and show you again on the assassination of the US president from different people’s perspective. This roll back thing repeat for 8 times (according to my friend, I’m not even know how many times since it’s really a lot of time).

vantage_point.jpg

The movie is suppose a very short movie. The shooting method was good, I like the roll back idea. Previously, there is one movie called Momento was also using the similar way of shooting. But Momento is start with the ending of the movie, then roll back to the front.

Overall, Vantage Point can consider a nice movie. I like the action pace and the explosion. Oh, one thing, Matthew Fox was in the movie. You know Jack in the series LOST? Yes, it’s him.

Here’s the trailer for Back To The Future II.

Back To The Future

28th February

Just after I finished Assembly, I continued with Back To The Future. Back To The Future is a trilogy movie and it’s one of my favourite! It’s about the time machine.

back_to_the_future.jpg

The scientist, Doc invented the time machine and Marty (starring Michael J Fox) have the chance to go back to the year of 1955. He met his parents and with the help of Doc, he managed to go back to 1985.

It’s a nice movie. I like it so much. I can watch for many times and I will not feel bored about it.

Oh, one thing before I forget. Remember the song The Power Of Love? Yes, I just love it.

Do you like Back To The Future like me? :)

Assembly

26th February

In the middle of watching Assembly 集结号, a film by Feng XiaoGang.

assembly.jpg

I didn’t plan to watch this movie in the first place. However, I bought the dvd few days back and now I’m watching. It’s a war movie.

The movie starts in a war. The captain got an order, “if you don’t hear the bugle call, even if you are the only one left, you must keep fighting”. Due to this, all the team members died one by one and left the captain. After many years, the captain keep finding all his team members, hope that he can find their body.

I’m not really like to watch war movie, it’s sad to see people keep dying. However, it’s a touching movie. Assembly is based on the history, a true story during the war. For those who like to watch war movie, you will not miss this one.

There is also another war movie, Warlord. I didn’t plan to watch that as well, but who knows, maybe I will watch it in future. :)
